Dole Salad Recall 2020
Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc., has announced a voluntary recall of products manufactured at their facility in Springfield, Ohio. Although the product originates in the United States, the food was distributed in several locations in Canada, including New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec.
Dole Salad Kits Recall
The products that are being recalled include pre-packaged salads, salad blends, and salad kits. In addition, leafy greens (including the PC Organics brand greens) are also being recalled. At issue is the possibility that the products have become tainted with Listeria monocytogenes.
Consumers are advised to check to see if they have any of the below-listed products in their homes. If they do, they should either throw the products away or return them to their retailer.
Infection With Listeria Lead to Death
Even if the food does not smell spoiled or look bad, it should still be thrown away. Infection with Listeria can cause muscle aches including extreme headaches and neck stiffness as well as nausea, vomiting, and persistent fever. Severe cases have been known to lead to death.
People of Weak Immune systems On Risk
Those with weakened immune systems would be particularly at risk as would the elderly and pregnant women. If you are pregnant and are exposed to Listeria, it can lead to premature delivery and stillbirth. As of this writing, there have been no confirmed illnesses, but Dole is still exercising caution in the recall.
Dole Romaine Lettuce Recall 2020
If you wish to check if you have any of these products in your home, look at the product code in the upper right-hand corner of the product’s packaging. Foods affected by the recall will have a code beginning with the letter “A.”
