Furniture and home store IKEA has issued a recall of certain crib mattresses that were sold in their stores. The mattresses in question are the model VYSSA SPELEVINK. They are being recalled because they pose a fire hazard.
They “failed to meet” the open flame standard of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). No injuries have been reported in this recall. If you are not sure about your model brand, this recalled mattress is 52 inches long by 27.5 inches wide.
The mattresses are white and the edge of the mattress has blue piping. They were sold both in-store and online from October 2000 through May 2014. In addition, some customers were given the mattresses in early 2015 in exchange for mattress recalls concerning infants being trapped by the edge of the older mattresses.
Although customers paid around $100 retail for the mattresses, Ikea is offering full refunds without a receipt. For more information about returning your mattress, contact IKEA at (888) 966-4532. You can also contact the CPSC for more information on the recall at (800) 638-2772.
