A defective product recall has been announced for the Tadpoles Baby and Kids Moses Basket and Stand. This basket does not meet federal regulations for a hand held infant carrier. In addition, the stand does not meet the standards for bassinet/cradle.
The two main issues are that the basket can slide off when placed on an inclined or sloping surface and the stand can tip. Both of these problems pose an infant injury and fall hazard for children placed in the basket. If you purchased the Moses basket to use it as a hand held carrier, you should immediately stop such use. If you purchased both the basket and stand, you should stop using them and call the manufacturer, Sleeping Partners, at (844) 489-9498 as soon as possible to arrange a refund. (The manufacturer can also be reached at www.sleepingpartners.com by clicking on the Support icon.)
Approximately 5,500 baskets and 800 stands are affected by this recall. The basket is made from wild palm leaves that are tan. It is approximately 33 inches long, 14 inches tall, and 10 inches wide. The stand features a fabric platform and polyester rope design. It is made from a pine wood frame and measures approximately 17 inches in height and 14 inches in width. When extended, the stand measures 15 inches wide. On the clear plastic wrapping of the product, the word “Tadpoles” can be seen. The items were sold between April 2014 and July 2015 at various outlets including Babies R Us, Amazon, Kohls, and buybuyBaby. The basket retailed between $50 and $90 while the stand sold for $25 to $35.
