Graco Strollers Recalled Due to Fingertip Amputation
Eleven different models of Graco strollers have been recalled because the folding hinge on the sides of the stroller can pinch a child’s finger and either cut the finger or present an amputation hazard. The 11 Graco and Century-branded strollers include these models: Aspen, Breeze, Capri, Cirrus, Glider, Kite, LiteRider, Sierra, Solara, Sterling and TravelMate Model Strollers and Travel Systems.
To date, Graco has received 11 reports of injuries to the fingers, including six reports of fingertip amputation, four reports of partial-fingertip amputation and one finger laceration. About 4.7 million of these strollers were sold nationwide at Target, Toys R Us, Walmart and other retail stores and online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com and other online retailers from August 2000 through November 2014. These strollers ranged in price from $40-70 for the stroller and $140-$170 for the Travel System. The strollers involved in the recall have a manufacture date from August 1, 2000, to September 25, 2014. The model number/manufacture date can be found on a white label which is located at the bottom of the stroller leg just above the rear wheel.

If you have any of the listed strollers, you can contact Graco for a free repair kit. Until you receive the repair kit, Graco urges anyone using one of these stroller to exercise extreme care when unfolding the stroller. Make sure the hinges are firmly locked before placing a child in the stroller and if you are removing a child from the stroller and it begins to fold, make sure to keep their fingers from the side hinge area.
