Toys R Us Recalls Koala Children’s Sandals
Toys R Us has recalled about 19,000 pairs of girls’ plastic sandals with butterfly wings decorated with rhinestones attached to the top in both hard and soft cork-type soles. These sandals were manufactured in China and sold at Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores nationwide, online at toysrus.com and online at babiesrus.com from February 2014 through September 2014 for about $13.
The wings have been reported to rip and detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Sandal colors include white or combination pink, gold, and blue. They were sold in baby sizes 0 to 3 and girl’s sizes 2 to 10. The size and the words ‘Koala Baby’ are printed on the soles.
Toys R Us discovered this problem after a consumer reported they found a piece of the shoe’s butterfly wing in their child’s mouth. No injuries have been reported.
The model and item numbers are printed on a tag sewn into the sandal’s ankle strap. The following butterfly sandals have been recalled:
- White soft-soled sandals with model number GNL 43633BR and item number 795267
- White hard-soled sandals with model number GNL 43706BR and item number 795313.
- Combination pink, gold, and blue soft-soled sandals with model number GNL 43634BR and item number 795275.
- Combination pink, gold, and blue hard-soled sandals with GNM 41761BR and item number 845795.
If you have purchased any of these infant or child sandals, you should take the recalled sandals away from the child immediately and return the sandals to any Toys R Us or Babies R Us for a full refund.
