Richard P. Pravato was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and has spent his entire professional career in South Florida — first as a law student at Nova Southeastern University, then as a practicing attorney, and now as the Managing Partner of the Law Offices of Wolf & Pravato. He has never represented insurance companies or corporations trying to minimize what injured people deserve. From his first day practicing law in 1996, Richard has worked exclusively on the plaintiff’s side — representing individuals and families who have been harmed by someone else’s negligence and need a trial-ready advocate to fight for them.
That choice was deliberate. In nearly three decades of practice, Richard has seen firsthand what happens to injury victims who face insurance companies without experienced legal representation: claims are undervalued, injuries are minimized, and settlement offers arrive before the full extent of someone’s damages is even known. His approach is the opposite. Every case his firm accepts is prepared from the start as if it will go before a judge and jury — because that posture is what produces better outcomes, whether a case resolves at the settlement table or in the courtroom.
Richard is a founding partner of Wolf & Pravato and heads the firm’s Litigation Department. He has successfully litigated hundreds of cases across numerous Florida courts and has obtained substantial settlements and jury verdicts for injury victims throughout Broward County and across South Florida. He is married and the father of two sons, and remains a permanent resident of the South Florida community he has represented throughout his legal career.
Richard Pravato holds one of the most meaningful credentials a Florida trial attorney can earn: Board Certification in Civil Trial Law through the Florida Bar Board Certification program.
Board Certification is the Florida Bar’s highest level of formal recognition. It is not awarded for length of service or bar membership — it is earned through a rigorous evaluation process that assesses demonstrated competence, peer review, substantial experience in the specialty area, and passage of a written examination. Attorneys who hold Board Certification are formally recognized by the Florida Bar as possessing special knowledge, skill, and proficiency in their designated area of law and are permitted to identify themselves as a “specialist” or “expert” in that field.
The numbers reflect how selective the designation is. Of the approximately 93,000 attorneys licensed to practice law in Florida, fewer than 5% hold any Board Certification. Of that smaller group, only approximately 1,068 hold certification specifically in Civil Trial Law — meaning that fewer than 2% of all Florida attorneys have achieved the same credential Richard holds.
Richard earned his Civil Trial Law Board Certification in 2004 and has maintained it in good standing since. He also holds a national certification in Civil Trial Law from the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) — an independent credentialing organization that applies a parallel rigorous evaluation process for trial attorneys across the country.
Nova Southeastern University — Shepard Broad College of Law, 1996 Richard graduated with High Honors (Magna Cum Laude), finishing in the top 5% of his graduating class. He earned multiple awards for Academic Excellence during his legal studies and was a member of the Dean’s List for all three years of law school.

Richard is admitted to practice in Florida state courts and has litigated personal injury matters in Broward County’s 17th Judicial Circuit and in other circuit courts across Florida.
Richard Pravato has focused his practice exclusively on personal injury and civil trial litigation throughout his career. His case experience spans:
Richard works exclusively as a plaintiff’s attorney. He has never represented insurance companies or defendants in personal injury matters.
Richard has successfully litigated hundreds of personal injury cases across Florida’s state courts over the course of his nearly 30-year career — a record reflected in his Florida Bar history and in the firm’s track record of representing injured clients throughout South Florida.
His case experience, as documented in the firm’s practice history and consistent with his Board Certification in Civil Trial Law, spans the following matter types:
Wrongful death arising from motor vehicle accidents, Richard has represented surviving family members in wrongful death claims following fatal crashes, including cases where multiple liable parties were involved and where insurance companies aggressively contested liability. These cases require expert testimony, accident reconstruction evidence, and full trial preparation from the outset.
Product liability litigation Richard’s practice has included complex product liability matters where defective or dangerous products caused serious injury or property harm to consumers and residents across South Florida. These cases often involve manufacturer defendants and require coordination with engineering, medical, and damages experts.
Premises liability and negligent security Richard has represented injury victims in premises liability cases involving commercial properties, hotels, retail centers, and residential complexes in Broward County and across South Florida. These cases frequently turn on what the property owner knew, when they knew it, and whether they took reasonable steps to address a dangerous condition before someone was harmed.
Automobile accident litigation in Broward County Richard has litigated car accident cases at every stage — from initial demand and insurance negotiation through jury trial — in Broward County’s 17th Judicial Circuit. His familiarity with local court procedures, insurance defense strategies, and jury expectations in this market directly benefits clients whose cases proceed to litigation.
Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. Every case is unique, and results depend on the specific facts and circumstances involved.
