Kraft Cheese Singles Recall

Kraft Cheese Singles Recall

With the beginning of September comes school and back to school lunches. If you or someone you know is a cheese lover, make sure you read about Kraft’s cheese recall and pass the information along. Kraft Foods Group Inc. issued a voluntary recall of 7,691 cases of Kraft American singles cheese slices. Why? Because they had reason to believe the cheese may go bad before its posted expiration date and could cause food-borne illness.

Posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website on Friday 8/29/14, they wrote. “A supplier did not store an ingredient used in this product in accordance with Kraft’s temperature standards. While unlikely, this could create conditions that could lead to premature spoilage and/or food borne illness; therefore, the company is issuing the recall as a precaution.”

The cheese was manufactured at the Kraft packaging facility in Springfield, Mo., and shipped across the country. The affected packages include 12-ounce, 16-ounce and 64-ounce products with a “best when used by” date of Feb. 20, 2015 or Feb. 21, 2015. No other Kraft singles products are impacted by this recall.

As of today, no illnesses have been reported due to the recalled cheese and Kraft is conducting an investigation to find out what caused the improper storage conditions. Kraft is asking anyone who purchased these products to refrain from eating them. Simply return it to the store where you purchased it for an exchange or full refund.

If you have any of the following types of Kraft cheese at home with a “best when used by” date of Feb. 20, 2015 through Feb. 21, 2015, please note that it has been recalled. Consumers can find the “best when used by” dates on the bottom of the product package.
